Egypt and UN Discuss Preparations for 2026 Water Conference

Egypt and the United Nations have discussed preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference, with Egypt pledging continued support and outlining new initiatives.

• Minister Hani Sweilam met with UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua in New York to review preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference.
• Sweilam announced Egypt will co-chair the "Water for Planet" interactive dialogue alongside Japan.
• Sweilam said Egypt will host a ministerial session during Cairo Water Week 2026 to coordinate with dialogue co-chairs.
• Sweilam stated that the 2023, 2026, and 2028 conferences should be treated as an integrated international track.
