Egypt launches wheat initiative with 50% mechanization discount for small farmers

Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk has announced an initiative offering small wheat farmers a 50% discount on ministry machinery.

• Farouk convened a meeting with ministry officials to implement the Egypt 2026 Forum outcomes, following directives from President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
• He announced the initiative will plant one million feddans of wheat for farmers with holdings under two feddans, using ministry equipment at half the cost.
• Farouk ordered livestock breed development through genetic improvement and artificial insemination, with a detailed plan required within a week.
