A UN General Assembly session debating the US embargo of Cuba was suspended Tuesday after US Ambassador Mike Waltz and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez clashed.
- Waltz was addressing the assembly on a non-binding Cuban resolution to end the US embargo when Rodríguez approached the podium demanding he stop.
- Waltz shouted "This is the United Nations, not your communist dictatorship — you cannot silence me," and Rodríguez replied "You are lying."
- The session president suspended deliberations briefly and ordered both delegates back to their seats before letting Waltz continue.
- Waltz said Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed an order expelling a Cuban diplomat accused of pushing an American diplomat.
