Egypt Health Minister meets African Development Bank on expanding health insurance

Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met an African Development Bank mission to discuss expanding the comprehensive health insurance system to more governorates.

• Abdel Ghaffar held talks with the AfDB delegation on supporting next phases of the comprehensive health insurance system and extending coverage to additional governorates.
• Discussions covered digital transformation of insurance management, developing primary health care services, and increasing private sector participation.
• AfDB representatives said they would continue cooperation with Egypt, citing prior support for primary health care units under health sector reform programs.
• The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to coordinate on identifying priority projects and preparing proposals.
