Egypt's Administrative Court has scheduled a November 28 ruling on blogger Hadir Abdel Razek's constitutional challenge to the "family values" phrase in the cybercrime law.
- The first rights and freedoms circuit set November 28 for the verdict in case 12217 filed by Abdel Razek challenging the constitutionality of Article 25 of Law 175 of 2018.
- Lawyer Hani Sameh filed the case against the Prime Minister, Public Prosecutor, Parliament speaker, and Justice Minister, demanding suspension of the clause pending a constitutional ruling.
- The defense argued the phrase "family values" lacks a clear legislative definition, conflicting with the legality-of-crimes principle under Article 95 of the Constitution.
- The defense cited Articles 65, 67, and 71 on free expression and artistic creativity, and requested referral of the text to the Supreme Constitutional Court.
