The CAF Champions League group-stage draw has placed Zamalek in Group 2 alongside Club Africain, rekindling a rivalry shaped by the abandoned "Abu Galabiya" match of 2011.
- The draw, held Wednesday, placed Zamalek in Group 2 with Club Africain, MC Alger, and Young Africans of Tanzania.
- Zamalek will open the group stage with a home match against Club Africain in Cairo on November 27–29.
- On April 2, 2011, fans invaded the pitch during the round-of-32 return leg in Cairo, forcing the match's abandonment; one supporter, later known as "Abu Galabiya," wore a galabiya onto the field.
- CAF fined Zamalek and barred its fans from two subsequent African matches after the incident; the clubs have met four times in the competition, winning two each.
- Heba Gharib, wife of Tunisian striker Seifeddine Jaziri, thanked Zamalek on Instagram, saying the club remains part of her family's story.
- Four years after accusing ES Tunis and MC Alger of colluding to eliminate it, Zamalek faces MC Alger in the final group round at Cairo Stadium in January.
- Zamalek's representative at the draw, Ahmed Shawky, said the club aims to win a sixth Champions League title.
