Brazil's sports tribunal has suspended Santos forward Neymar for two matches for covering his mouth while arguing with an opponent.
- The tribunal ruled Neymar's gesture during Santos' match against Bahia violated a protocol named after Vinícius Júnior, who earlier accused an opponent of racism.
- Neymar was shown a direct red card after a VAR review and will serve three matches total, including one for accumulated yellow cards.
- Investigator Delmiro Campos said the mouth-covering was an attempt to hide words spoken during the confrontation with Bahia midfielder Rodrigo Nestor.
- Defense lawyer Marcelo Mendez said the gesture was instinctive and that not every mouth-covering falls under the Vinicius law.
