The Egyptian Table Tennis Federation has permanently struck coach Mohamed Momtaz from its records after a video showed him slapping player Zeina Farouk in Sheffield.
- The federation's board, chaired by Ashraf Helmy, held an emergency session Wednesday and struck Momtaz from its records, banning him from any table tennis activity.
- The video showed Momtaz slapping Farouk on the face after one of her matches at the under-12 World Hope Week tournament in Sheffield.
- The federation referred the investigation results to the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Egyptian Olympic Committee for further action.
- Farouk's mother denied the slap, saying Momtaz meant only to frighten or warn her daughter, and defended the coach.
