Bayern Munich have confirmed coach Vincent Kompany's collapse was caused by meningeal irritation, as he left hospital on Wednesday to continue recovery at home.
- Kompany collapsed during a reserve-team training session on Friday and was flown to hospital by air ambulance, sustaining a dislocated shoulder in the fall.
- Sporting director Max Eberl told ARD that doctors diagnosed a meningeal irritation that caused the Friday incident and could develop into meningitis if untreated.
- Eberl said Kompany will continue rehabilitation at home, resting and taking medication, with no confirmed timetable for his return.
- Eberl said doctors ruled out a link between the illness and either the earlier virus or the pressures of coaching in the Bundesliga.
