Israel's Central Elections Committee has begun counting double-envelope ballots, a step that could shift the final Knesset election results.
- The Central Elections Committee announced Thursday morning it began counting double-envelope ballots cast by soldiers, prisoners, medical staff, and diplomats abroad.
- With 89.8 percent of regular ballots counted, Netanyahu's bloc holds 53 Knesset seats to Eisenkot's 48, short of the 61 needed to govern.
- The committee said it has processed results from 11,712 of 12,018 polling stations, covering more than 5 million voters.
- Initial estimates put double-envelope participation at 600,000 to 650,000 voters, up from 460,000 in the 2022 election.
- Arab parties are projected to hold a record combined 19 Knesset seats, initial results from the election show.
- The Central Elections Committee said more than 500,000 special ballots remain to be counted.
