Archaeologists have found a perfume bottle, coins and a child's charm necklace sealed inside a wooden wardrobe in a Pompeii home for nearly 2,000 years.
- The wardrobe, discovered in a home on Via dell'Abbondanza, contained tweezers, a small glass perfume bottle, an incense burner and a bronze lantern.
- Among the finds was a crepundia, a child's necklace of more than 20 charms depicting deities including Bes and Mercury.
- Zuchtriegel said the necklace served as a reminder of parents, typical of a society of displaced people moving around the Mediterranean.
- Zuchtriegel said money and personal objects left behind suggested the owners fled the AD79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius at short notice.
