Houthi forces tightening their siege of Taiz have suspended schools and cut water, food and medical supplies for the city's 800,000 residents, officials said.
- Education officials in Taiz said about two months of the school semester have passed with government and private schools closed as shelling continued.
- Governor Nabil Shamsan said water deliveries had fallen to 1,000 cubic metres daily against an estimated need of 35,000, with 120 health centres suspended.
- Shamsan said 64 people were killed and 173 injured from August to 20 October 2026, and that more than 6,400 families had been displaced into the city.
- Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi denied any siege, saying food, medicine and humanitarian aid could enter the city.
