Kimi Antonelli has clinched his first Formula One title at the Mexico City Grand Prix, becoming the sport's youngest world champion at age 20.
- Antonelli finished third for Mercedes, becoming the first Italian world champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953 and breaking Sebastian Vettel's record as the youngest champion.
- Max Verstappen claimed a sixth win in Mexico City, finishing ahead of Lewis Hamilton after a red-flag restart.
- Hamilton, second for Ferrari, said teammate Charles Leclerc's five-second penalty for cutting the first lap meant the stewards were "handing Charles this win."
- The race was red-flagged after Valtteri Bottas crashed out with a front-suspension failure, setting up a 25-lap restart.
- Antonelli clinched the title at 20 years and 68 days, in his second F1 season, with nine wins across the campaign.
- He is the third Italian world champion after Giuseppe Farina and Alberto Ascari, ending a 73-year wait for Italy.
