China and Oman urge US and Iran to resume dialogue during sultan's first Beijing visit

Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq held talks with President Xi Jinping in Beijing, where both agreed to push Washington and Tehran back toward dialogue.

• Sultan Haitham bin Tariq held expanded talks with President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday, during his first state visit to China.
• China and Oman agreed to encourage Washington and Tehran to return to dialogue and to resume safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
• The two leaders witnessed the signing of an agreement and 14 memoranda of understanding covering investment, science, technology, and artificial intelligence.
• Xi said China is ready to coordinate with Arab countries to restore peace in the region, which should not become a battlefield of great-power rivalry.
