Egypt's media regulator and human rights council agree to form joint working group

Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation and National Council for Human Rights agreed to form a joint working group following a meeting.

• SCMR Chairman Khaled Abdel Aziz received an NCHR delegation led by its head, Ambassador Ahmed Ihab Gamal El-Din.
• The meeting covered the status of websites seeking to regularize their legal status under Egyptian law.
• The two councils agreed to form a joint working group to coordinate on issues intersecting their constitutional and legal mandates.
• Both sides affirmed their commitment to supporting freedom of opinion and expression and professional media practices.
