French high school students resumed protests Monday after the autumn break, blockading schools as the third wave of unrest drew fewer participants.
- The education ministry said students blockaded 41 of France's 3,700 high schools on Monday, about one percent of the total.
- Interior ministry figures showed 779 arrests and 320,000 protesters on Saturday, down from 2,628 arrests and 550,000 participants on October 17.
- Prosecutors opened an attempted murder investigation after a Molotov cocktail hit security forces in Paris, leaving an officer with burns.
- The government pledged 4 billion euros for school renovation, 15,000 new university places and a 28-pupil class cap; student unions called the offers insufficient and urged new blockades.
