Russell Brand's defence barrister delivered his closing speech at Southwark Crown Court on Monday, arguing that 2023 media reporting "poisoned the well of justice" against his client.
- Winter argued the Channel 4 documentary and Times and Sunday Times stories prompted complainants to come forward with allegations years later.
- Brand faces seven charges against six women, including three counts of rape and three of sexual assault, all of which he denies.
- Winter said Brand lived a "highly promiscuous life" that was "entirely lawful" and questioned why only three women claimed they did not consent.
- Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC said Friday the 2023 reporting had not influenced the six complainants.
