Spanish authorities have identified all 69 victims of last Wednesday's high-speed train collision 150 kilometres south of Madrid, 54 of them Spanish nationals.
- Spanish authorities announced identification of all 69 victims through genetic and fingerprint analysis, and notified families and consulates.
- The 15 foreign victims include four Americans, two Australians, two Japanese citizens and one each from Argentina, Canada, France, Mexico, Portugal, Tunisia and Czechia.
- Transport Minister Óscar Puente said the accident began with an information-system fault that forced trains to stop, possibly followed by "human error."
- Preliminary findings indicate the control centre issued wrong instructions for a Renfe train to resume, which struck a stopped train at an estimated 160–200 km/h; the second such collision in Spain in under a year.
