Earthquake of magnitude 4.9 strikes north of Mersa Matruh

The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research recorded a 4.9-magnitude earthquake 353 kilometers north of Mersa Matruh on Tuesday.

• The institute's National Seismic Network stations registered the quake at 1:03:44 PM local time.
• The tremor occurred at latitude 34.45 north, longitude 26.51 east, and a depth of 16.60 kilometers.
• The institute said no reports indicated residents felt the quake or that it caused casualties or property damage.
