Voting in Tuesday's US midterm elections ran largely smoothly nationwide, with isolated ballot-machine failures reported in New York, Florida, Kansas, and other states.
- Ballot scanners failed at 332 Westchester County, New York, polling locations, blocking as many as 250,000 ballots and prompting officials to issue emergency paper ballots.
- New York Attorney General Letitia James said her office was monitoring the failure and assured voters all ballots would be counted.
- In Kansas, a polling place ran out of ballots after officials ordered 100 paper ballots instead of 100,000.
- North Carolina's board of elections considered extending voting hours and delayed releasing results until 8:30pm.
