Amy Acton, a Democrat, has been elected Ohio's next governor, defeating Republican Vivek Ramaswamy and becoming the state's first female governor.
- Acton, a former top health official under outgoing Republican Governor Mike DeWine, is the first Democrat elected governor since Ted Strickland in 2006.
- She is the first woman ever elected to the office, ending 16 years of Republican control of the governorship.
- Ramaswamy and his allies spent over $100 million on ads, including a televised spot featuring Acton's estranged mother that he claimed responsibility for and refused to remove.
- Trump, who endorsed Ramaswamy, called Acton "a radical left lunatic" at an October rally in Youngstown.
