November 4, 2026 at 07:04 AM
Democrat Troy Jackson has won Maine's US Senate seat, defeating Republican incumbent Susan Collins in the 2026 midterm election.
- Jackson toppled five-term incumbent Collins, ending her Senate tenure that began in 1997.
- Jackson, a lumberjack and former state senate president, argued Collins emboldened President Trump's agenda through votes such as confirming Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
- Collins cast Jackson as ideologically inconsistent and lacking the experience to deliver for Maine at the federal level.
- Jackson mounted the campaign after the first Democratic nominee dropped out, leaving him 101 days before the election.
