Mohammed Mrad has resigned as media coordinator of Egypt's national football team after five years, amid controversy over head coach Hossam Hassan's future.
- Mrad announced his resignation Thursday in a statement he posted on his Facebook page.
- Mrad said he worked alone throughout his tenure and that other teams fielded at least four media coordinators.
- In the statement, Mrad told an unnamed Egyptian Football Association official: "I stayed against your will and left by my own choice."
- The resignation comes as press reports say the association is studying alternative head-coach options amid Hassan's dispute with his ex-wife.
