Concacaf has announced a new Gold Cup format with two eight-team groups for the 2027 edition, replacing the traditional four-group structure.
- Concacaf announced the change Thursday, replacing four groups of four with two groups of eight teams.
- Each team will play four group-stage matches, and the top four from each group advance to the knockout stage.
- The 2027 Gold Cup runs June 17–July 11; the host is undecided, and the draw is scheduled for April 8.
- President Victor Montagliani said the format creates more opportunities for top-team matchups earlier in the competition.
