Brian Devine, filmed clicking his fingers to fake an edge, has been banned from cricket under ECB jurisdiction until September 2028, and his club relegated.
- The North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League announced on Friday that Devine is barred from playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring and managing junior teams until 29 September 2028.
- Devine, fielding at slip for Saltburn second XI against Norton in July, clicked his fingers as the ball passed Noman Shabir's bat; the umpire gave the batter out caught behind.
- Saltburn's second XI has been relegated to Division Three and will start the 2027 season with a 60-point deduction; the club was fined £300 after appealing its sanction.
- Both Devine and Saltburn admitted the misconduct charges, and the league said its investigation included player interviews, written statements and a review of video footage.
