Armed men attacked the village of Kantine in North Kivu overnight, killing at least 33 people and burning more than 50 homes, a local civil society group said.
- At least 33 people were killed in the overnight attack on Kantine in North Kivu province, eastern DR Congo.
- Justin Baluku, head of a local civil society group, told the Associated Press that the Allied Democratic Forces carried out the attack.
- Baluku said his group had counted 33 bodies and more than 50 houses set alight, along with other material damage.
- The attack forced villagers to flee to other areas of the province; the ADF was linked to ISIS in 2019.
- The attackers also set fire to a health post, forcing patients with confirmed and suspected Ebola infections to flee, raising fears of further transmission.
