Reports conflict over whether Messi will stay at Inter Miami or return to Newell's Old Boys

Two accounts of the Argentine forward's plans have diverged, one saying he stays in Miami and another raising a 2027 loan to his boyhood club.

• Inter Miami announced in October 2025 that it had extended Messi's contract through the end of the 2028 MLS season.
• Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano said Messi is not considering leaving Inter Miami or joining Newell's Old Boys on loan.
• Argentine journalist Flavio Azaro said Messi could play in Argentina in 2027, with a six-month loan floated as MLS calendar changes leave Miami without official matches that half-year.
