Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has told his inner circle that Didier Deschamps is his preferred replacement for José Mourinho if results do not improve, journalist Sergio Valentín reported.
- Valentín reported Sunday that Pérez has identified Deschamps as his chosen successor should Mourinho's performances fail to turn around.
- Valentín said senior management's patience is waning, with doubts stemming from the administration rather than the dressing room, where Mourinho retains player support.
- Deschamps, unattached since France's fourth-place finish at the 2026 World Cup, said he wants to continue coaching and will study offers from clubs and national teams.
- Real Madrid, fourth with 18 points, host fifth-placed Sevilla in tonight's ninth-round La Liga match.
