DoorDash has agreed to pay $131.5m to settle a New York City investigation that found the food delivery company underpaid or paid workers late.
- DoorDash will provide nearly $115m in relief to about 264,000 workers and pay a $16.7m civil fine.
- The payout includes $83m for workers logged into the app without delivering and $12.3m for missed or late payments.
- "Simply put, we screwed up," DoorDash said, attributing errors to technical bugs, multi-stop routes, and complex 2023 minimum wage changes.
- Mayor Zohran Mamdani said DoorDash failed to comply with the city's 2023 delivery pay law, calling the settlement the largest labor enforcement action.
- The consent order found DoorDash failed to pay workers the minimum required by law from December 2023 to June 2026.
- Underpaid workers will receive 200% of what they were originally owed.
