BBC has announced cuts to Radio 4 programmes including consumer show You and Yours as part of its £500m savings plan.
- BBC announced it will end You and Yours, Thinking Allowed, Free Thinking, The Artificial Human and Open Country, with The World Tonight closing next spring.
- Two new weekly programmes will replace the axed shows, while In Our Time and Start the Week expand to an hour.
- Jonathan Wall said commissioning fewer programmes would focus investment and make the best shows work across broadcast and on-demand formats.
- Matt Brittin said the BBC's financial situation may mean some channels and stations close, and no programme is guaranteed forever.
