FIFA has approved trialling two new rules at Gulf Cup 27, targeting goalkeeper injury feigning and set-piece fouls.
- A goalkeeper ruled by the referee to have feigned injury will see his coach given 10 seconds to select a player to leave the field for one minute.
- If the coach names no player within the deadline, the referee orders the captain off the field, or the second on-field captain if the goalkeeper is captain.
- A goal scored after an attacker pushed a defender during a set piece will be annulled and the set piece retaken.
- Results of the trials at the tournament will be evaluated before FIFA decides whether to adopt the rules officially.
