Egypt, Russia discuss expediting Russian industrial zone in Suez Canal zone

Egypt's foreign minister met Russia's Maxim Oreshkin in Cairo on Monday to discuss accelerating the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal economic zone.

• Abdelatty received Oreshkin in Cairo on Monday, the Russian official's first visit to Egypt.
• The two discussed steps to begin operating the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone after a Russian industrial developer was selected.
• Talks covered cooperation in heavy industries, automobile manufacturing, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
• Abdelatty said Cairo and Moscow will develop their comprehensive strategic partnership in line with directives from Presidents Sisi and Putin.
