Zidane shifts Mbappe to left wing for France

Zinedine Zidane has told Kylian Mbappe he will play as a left winger rather than a striker for France.

• Zidane intends to field Mbappe as a left winger instead of a center-forward, a position the striker has occupied for two years.
• Zidane said Mbappe will captain the team and can play in all three attacking positions, but he personally prefers him on the left.
• Foot Mercato reported the expected 4-3-3 lineup places Mbappe on the left, Ousmane Dembele at center-forward and Michael Olise on the right.
• Since his France debut in March 2017, Mbappe has played 32 matches as a left winger, scoring 21 goals and providing 16 assists.
