A Minneapolis man who sprayed water and vinegar on Representative Ilhan Omar at a town hall has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.
- Anthony Kazmierczak was sentenced Thursday to 14 months in prison and three years of supervised release with no contact with Omar, after pleading guilty to assaulting a US officer.
- Kazmierczak attacked Omar on 27 January at a Minneapolis town hall, leaping from the audience and spraying a water-and-apple-cider-vinegar mixture from a syringe onto her clothing and skin.
- US District Judge Joan N Ericksen said the attack was premeditated, noting Kazmierczak had secured town hall tickets weeks in advance.
- Kazmierczak apologized in court, saying, "I really apologize to her for having put her through that"; Omar was not injured and continued the event.
