The Conservative Party has suspended former election candidate Jack Ross after Al Jazeera filmed him discussing contract killings and introducing a reporter to a UVF-linked criminal.
- A Conservative Party spokesperson said Ross's membership was suspended with immediate effect pending an investigation.
- Al Jazeera filmed Ross naming prices for beatings, face-cutting, stabbings and shootings and for introducing its undercover reporter to Allan Nesbitt, a convicted UVF member.
- Ross denied the investigation's findings "completely," saying everything he told the undercover reporter was not meant seriously.
- Police Scotland said it will review and assess the Al Jazeera documentary for any criminality.
- Al Jazeera's investigation, launched in 2021, infiltrated Turning Point UK, the British offshoot of the US group Turning Point USA.
- Ross, who served as Turning Point UK's chief executive, introduced the undercover reporter to Nesbitt in that capacity.
