Pyongyang has written to the UN Security Council accusing South Korea of inventing a September landmine explosion that injured three of its soldiers.
- North Korea's UN representative sent the letter Sunday, alleging Seoul "groundlessly" shifted blame for the September 21 blast inside the Demilitarized Zone.
- The letter called the incident a "sinister obstructive move" to brand the North's border fortification as a "military invasion."
- It defended the fortification as a legitimate exercise of sovereignty and criticized South Korea for firing warning shots at its soldiers.
- South Korea's foreign ministry last week wrote to the UNSC president, blaming the blast on a North Korean mine and calling it a "clear violation of the armistice agreement."
