Rene Haas, chief executive of chip designer Arm Holdings, has told the BBC that artificial intelligence will find a cure for cancer that humans cannot achieve alone in our lifetimes.
- Haas said on the BBC's Big Boss Interview podcast that AI will "find a cure for cancer" within our lifetimes, though modelling how cancer impacts a DNA marker is currently "too complex" for humans or today's computers.
- He told the BBC that artificial intelligence will lead to widespread humanoid robots within the next five years, capable of learning and being reprogrammed for new tasks.
- Haas said the rollout of AI is "supply-constrained" by chip shortages and rejected the idea of building chip factories in the UK, citing cost and specialist workers.
- Haas said Meta asked Arm to develop its AGI chip, which has attracted more than $2bn in demand since launching in March.
