A UN fact-finding mission concluded there are reasonable grounds to believe US strikes on a school and sports facility in Iran constituted war crimes, and that Iran's authorities committed crimes against humanity.
- The mission ruled the February US strikes on a Minab primary school and a Lamerd sports centre were indiscriminate attacks and war crimes, killing more than 150 people, some 120 of them children, per Iranian officials.
- It found Iranian authorities carried out a widespread attack on civilians in protests since late December, involving unlawful killings, torture, arbitrary detention, and at least 29 executions between March and August 2026.
- The report, to be submitted to the UN Human Rights Council on Monday, found no evidence the school had been used for military purposes.
- Trump said in June that nobody deliberately attacked the school, and US Central Command said in March it launched no strikes into Lamerd that day.
- The report concluded the Minab school was the intended target and named the US as the only party possessing the Tomahawk and PrSM missiles used.
- It put the civilian death toll at at least 177.
- It said the US has not acknowledged the strikes and is investigating them.
- The report said the strike on the Lamerd sports complex killed 22 civilians.
- It urged both the United States and Iran to end hostilities and pursue diplomatic means.
