Rhun ap Iorwerth has formally asked Prime Minister Andy Burnham for a "new deal" devolving greater powers to Wales.
- Ap Iorwerth wrote to Burnham on Thursday requesting a new deal placing Wales "on an equal footing with Scotland as a bare minimum."
- The letter pressed for transferring powers over policing and justice, rail infrastructure and the crown estate.
- Ap Iorwerth said he told Burnham "do not undermine Wales as a nation" and that Burnham promised he would not.
- Burnham is expected to meet the three first ministers at the end of October.
