WeWard Launches ‘Walking Mode’ to Lock Apps Until Users Hit Step Goals

The step-tracking rewards app backed by Venus Williams has introduced a feature that restricts access to chosen apps until a daily step count is reached.

• WeWard has launched “Walking Mode,” allowing users to block apps like TikTok and Instagram until they achieve a set step goal, with customizable targets.
• Co-founder Yves Benchimol said the app aims to create healthier real-world behaviors rather than capture more attention.
• WeWard reported that it has 30 million users across 29 countries, including 4 million in the United States.
• Tennis star and angel investor Venus Williams has provided funding to the France-based company.
