Thousands of Yemenis fleeing escalated western fighting have crossed into Djibouti, which says the influx already exceeds its capacity.
- More than 2,500 Yemenis have arrived in Djibouti since last Thursday, Interior Minister Omar Abdi Said said.
- Said said the figure could reach about 10,000 in the coming weeks, called on the UN to mobilize urgent financial resources, and stated arrivals exceed national capacity.
- At least 100,000 people have fled their homes since fighting between government forces and the Houthis intensified in September, with the Houthis capturing the coastal city of Mocha.
- IOM Djibouti coordinator Safiya Ibrahim said women, children, babies and sick people arrive daily, with the agency "counting on additional financial support."
- Tens of thousands of displaced people have gathered in Taiz governorate, where camps have overflowed, and UN agencies report Taiz has seen the most displacements.
- UN agencies said Taiz City is among the next targets of the Houthis, who captured the Red Sea coast including Mocha.
