Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity held a public electronic lottery to select 12,000 Hajj pilgrims from a record 66,000 applicants for the 1448 AH season.
- The electronic draw, held Tuesday before Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsi, selected 12,000 pilgrims from over 66,000 applicants via the unified Hajj portal, a record since the platform launched.
- Morsi said the 12,000 visas were Egypt's allocation for civil society associations and that the draw ran electronically without human intervention.
- Undersecretary Ayman Abdel Mowgood said women made up 55% of applicants and that 12 applicants were over 90 years old.
- Abdel Mowgood said selected pilgrims must pay package fees from Wednesday September 16 through September 24 at state banks, with alternates promoted for incomplete payments.
- Undersecretary Ayman Abdel Mowgood said program prices reflect actual service costs, set at three tiers — EGP 480,000, EGP 300,000, and EGP 255,000 — excluding airfare, with flight tickets to be announced later.
- Applicants can now check results by entering their 14-digit national ID number on the Hajj portal or through civil society associations, with outcomes split into three categories.
- The ministry said winners must pay package fees in full, while alternates may be contacted if winners decline or delay payment within a short window.
- Kafr El-Sheikh Governor Ibrahim Maki said 630 applicants from his governorate won the civil society Hajj lottery, with Baltim leading at 226 winners and Kafr El-Sheikh city at 123.
- The ministry said winners can pay Hajj package fees through Banque Misr, the National Bank of Egypt, Bank of Cairo, or Egyptian post offices.
- New Valley Governorate said 90 applicants won the civil society Hajj lottery, with the Al-Kharijah center leading the results at 43 winners.
