Egypt's Irrigation Ministry has begun applying artificial intelligence to manage the Ismailia Canal, with plans to extend the experiment nationwide.
- Irrigation Minister Hani Sweilam announced the ministry has begun field application of artificial intelligence technologies to manage the Ismailia Canal.
- Sweilam said the canal's infrastructure rehabilitation, the project's first phase, cost about 1 billion Egyptian pounds.
- The system, he said, relies on solar-powered cameras that measure water flows and transmit the data instantly to engineers.
- Sweilam said the experiment will be generalized across Egypt once its effectiveness is confirmed after the trial phase.
