Farmers in Dakahlia complain of irrigation water shortage, Ministry blames unauthorized rice cultivation

Farmers in Al-Tamad Al-Hajar village report insufficient irrigation water, causing crop damage, while the Ministry of Irrigation says water quantities remain unchanged.

• Farmers said water from the Al-Sinbillawain canal does not reach the end of the canal, forcing some to use buckets to irrigate.
• Farmer Ashraf Abdullah stated that current water quantities cannot irrigate more than 10,000 feddans.
• Irrigation official Samar Musabih said the expansion of unauthorized rice cultivation has increased demand and caused a deficit.
• The Ministry of Irrigation said the canal operates on a three-way rotation system and water has reached kilometer 6, with full irrigation scheduled during the rotation.
