Prime Minister Andy Burnham has approved a Saudi request for time-limited British air-to-air refuelling support for defensive purposes.
- Burnham said he approved the request on the advice of Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband.
- A single RAF Voyager will provide the refuelling from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, beginning in the coming days.
- Houthi militants said they carried out drone and ballistic missile attacks on Riyadh and Red Sea energy sites.
- Burnham said the support keeps key shipping pathways open, citing cost-of-living pressures at home.
