Anthony Gordon says England must stop trying to replicate Spain

England winger Anthony Gordon has said the national team should stop copying Spain's possession game and play to its own physical strengths.

• Gordon, speaking at St George's Park ahead of Saturday's Nations League match against world champions Spain, said controlling games is "not in the English DNA."
• Gordon said England should "play physical, play direct football and on the counterattack" rather than imitate Spain's possession-based style.
• Gordon defended Thomas Tuchel's defensive tactics in England's 2-1 World Cup semi-final loss to Argentina, saying players could have done more to control the game.
• Gordon said he was surprised to be substituted when England led Argentina 1-0, with Tuchel switching to a back five before Argentina scored twice.
