Meloni suffers parliamentary defeat on electoral law reform

The Italian Chamber of Deputies has rejected electoral reforms proposed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's party by a single vote.

• The chamber voted 187 in favor and 188 against in a secret ballot, defeating the proposed amendments.
• The reforms would have introduced a proportional representation system with a 42% threshold for an additional majority bonus.
