The British Museum has apologised and announced new measures after visitors faced long queues at its Bayeux Tapestry exhibition.
- Director Nicholas Cullinan apologised, saying the museum wants to "put it right" for visitors who had a bad experience.
- The museum will extend opening hours, add an audio guide, seating and signage after some visitors waited up to two hours and hundreds were turned away.
- Cullinan said the issues arose because visitors spent longer than their 40-minute slots, not because too many tickets were sold.
- Trustee Mary Beard visited the queue and suggested more benches and better guidance on wait times.
