Kenya's health ministry has confirmed a second Ebola infection in a 39-year-old man who is a close relative of the country's first-ever case.
- The second patient, a family member of the first case, was already in quarantine when he developed symptoms on Tuesday, the health ministry said.
- Kenya's first Ebola victim died on October 5 after traveling from DR Congo through Uganda to Nairobi without the illness being detected.
- Health officials had traced 113 of the first patient's 128 contacts by Tuesday, with 108 in quarantine in Kenya, the ministry said.
- Alan Kasujja, executive director of Uganda's government media centre, said "We don't have Ebola here" amid questions about how the patient crossed three countries.
- Kenya's health ministry said there is no evidence of Ebola transmission in the community, noting the second patient was already in quarantine.
- A suspected Ebola case in Wajir county, involving a traveller from DR Congo via Uganda, tested negative, easing fears of wider transmission.
- The World Health Organization said the second Kenyan case is caused by the Bundibugyo strain, with the patient receiving supportive clinical care.
