US average diesel prices have reached an all-time high and gasoline has approached the 2022 record, as war-related supply disruptions drive up fuel costs.
- AAA data showed average US regular gasoline reached $4.44 per gallon, about 11.5% below the record $5.02 set in June 2022.
- AAA reported average diesel at $6.39 per gallon, the highest on record and 72.5% higher than a year earlier.
- Energy Information Administration figures placed average gasoline at $4.319 in the week ending September 14, with on-road diesel at $6.285.
- AAA attributed the increases to global crude price jumps, declining US inventories, and the ongoing war on Iran.
